Chevron Canvas

I started this project at Creative Estates. I knew if I didn’t finish it as soon as I got home it would turn into one of those Saturday Relief Society projects that sits in my craft room for 6 months and then eventually gets thrown out. I don’t have the first few pictures of it but it was just a blank stretched canvas. There wasn’t a chevron stencil so I had to improvise. I turned a chipboard square on it’s side and traced around it to form the chevron pattern. It took a while, but when inspiration hit I finally knew what I wanted to do.

I loved the glittery white paint I had originally used but it was too translucent to hide the pencil lines, so when I brought it home I painted over it in the only white paint I had on hand (antique white). It hid the pencil lines really well.

It needed something else on it. My first thought was a monogram, but I have so many monograms I decided to go in a different direction. I cut out a green vinyl dragonfly with my Cricut using the  Home Decor cartridge.

I chose to use vinyl because I can peel it off and make a new one if I get tired of it. Maybe I’ll eventually end up with a monogram. I wouldn’t be surprised!

I found some perfect ribbon in my stash to make a bow to hang it from.

Then I used my staple gun to attach the loop to the canvas. I put 2 staples in.

Ta-Da! So cute! Thanks KamiJen and Canvas Corp for giving us this fun project to work on.

Love this Leanne! The dragonfly is so cute- and looks great with the chevrons! Way to follow through- mine is still in a pile with all the other things I brought home from Creative Estates. 🙂
