Fast and Cheap Centerpiece

February 18th, 2010

Whew, I’m up and running again. For the most part anyway. I think we’re about 85% there. We’re still having a few problems we need to resolve , but at least I can get logged-in now and can hopefully get this posted on my site. Hopefully some of you out there will be able to visit today.

First, I have some great news. My oldest daughter just had her 3rd baby boy. I’m so excited I get to see the little guy next week. They live in Canada so I’ll be flying up there next Monday. I can’t wait to see him and the rest of these guys too. Oh, so cute!

Christmas2008 003

Since taking down Valentine’s decorations I didn’t have a centerpiece for my table and I thought I had used the sticks to death, so it was time to come up with something else. Hubby complains sometimes that our centerpieces are to big and we can’t see each other when we’re sitting at the table, so I kept that in mind when coming up with the new centerpiece.

Remember when I painted these candlesticks black for Halloween? I’ve actually been using them ever since, only in other places throughout the house.

I bought these candle holders at Ross this week for only $1.49 each. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them, but I loved the size and texture and the price couldn’t be beat.

I was playing around with new arrangements for the mantel and stuck the candle holders on top of the black candle sticks. I loved it, but not on the mantel. So I moved them to the dining table and added another candle holder to the mix. Here’s what I ended up with.

I love how it turned out. It’s simple, cheap and per Hubby’s request, we can see each other at the dinner table now. It will work for a few weeks until I decorate for Easter. Plus, I added a bit of green for St. Patrick’s Day. These little green styro balls were about $2 last year at Tai Pan and they work great here to add some color.

I know I still have a blank wall in the dining area. It’s definitely not getting painted till I get back from Canada now, so I’ll just live with it a little longer. Also, I didn’t glue the candle holders on top of the candle sticks. I know I’ll want to change them again later and they’re really sturdy just sitting on top. That’s it! Thanks for stopping by and hopefully everything will be fixed here soon.
