10 Small Habits to add to your Daily Routine
One of my favorite things to do is to give Seminars. I enjoy being able to talk to people and get feedback on what they need and what will help them with their organizing problems. That’s why I decided to publish some of my ideas on the internet, this is like a little seminar everyday. So, visit my website daily for organizing tips and ideas. Hopefully you can get ideas from it everyday to help you in your life and keep coming back to get more. Enjoy these first ideas and implement them in your daily life.
Here are 10 Small Habits that you can add to your Daily Routine:
*Make your bed first thing in the morning – Don’t you feel so much better knowing that you’ve got at least one thing accomplished today. And if you haven’t made it, you know you think about it being messy all day long.
*No dishes in the sink – Load your dishes directly into the dishwasher. If you don’t have enough dishes to start it, make sure you put a dirty sign on it, so your kids don’t take a bowl out and pour their cereal in it. Oh yeah, that’s happened before.
*Put laundry away as soon as it is done – Nothing looks more messy than having piles of laundry laying around. Hang things up as soon as they come out of the dryer and you’ll have a lot less ironing to do. Have you ever timed yourself folding a load of clothes. It takes only about 7 minutes.
*If you can do it in 2 minutes or less, do it now – RSVP an invitation, make a doctors appointment, don’t throw your coat on the chair, hang it up, etc.
*Put your keys in the same place everyday – Do you want to be late for work or an appointment because you can’t find your keys? What a bad way to start out your day.
*Deal with your mail daily – Deal with it as soon as you bring it into the house. I’ll talk more about dealing with mail in an upcoming post.
*Make lunches the night before – I have 2 picky eaters that will not eat school lunch, so after dinner and before I clean up the kitchen, I make their lunches and stick them in the fridge.
*Empty your purse daily – Take out your receipts from purchases, your kids toys that somehow got in there, change to put in the Christmas jar, etc.
*Return items back to where you got them – Do this one as it happens. As you’re cooking put things away, bring the groceries in the house then return the reusable bags to the car, don’t pick something up from one room then put it down in another, etc. Teach your whole family to do this.
*Last minute pick up – Nightly, before the kids go to bed, have everyone do a quick 5 minute sweep of the house for anything that is theirs and put it away where it goes.
