A Visit From Edwin (the Elf)
Every Christmas Eve we get new pajamas to sleep in. I’m sure a lot of you do to, but Edwin (the Elf) brings us our pajamas. When we lived in Florida many years ago we had some good friends that had just recently started this tradition. It goes like this (I’ve adapted it to fit our family):

Santa is so busy with last minute changes and preparations on Christmas Eve (like changing those naughty kids to nice, because they were given one more last chance) that he doesn’t have time to worry about new pajamas so all the kids look great in their pictures Christmas morning. Edwin loves the way new pajamas make him feel all cozy and warm. He wanted to make sure all the children could feel that way Christmas Eve so he went to Santa and told him he’d be happy to make sure all the kids had new pajamas that night. Santa agreed and Edwin was put in charge of making and delivering all the Christmas pajamas (of course, he had a lot of help from the other elves).

On Christmas Eve, Edwin leaves the pajamas on our porch by the front door. He usually rings the doorbell then he’s off to his next delivery. The kids are so excited to receive their new pajamas from Edwin and open the front door often to see if they’ve come yet. Sometimes this can cause a problem with Edwin dropping them off. He usually comes in the evening between 6:00 and 8:00 while we’re reading stories or singing Christmas songs. If we’re visiting family for Christmas he’s always able to find us and leave our new pajamas. Of course, the parents also get new pajamas (we have to look good in our pictures too).

I love family traditions and the joy it gives to the children knowing there are things they can expect year after year. Merry Christmas to all of you and your families. I have enjoyed getting to know you all so much and wish the best for you always.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

We have this tradition also, although it’s Mrs. Santa that delivers the pajamas. The kids get to open them Christmas Eve after reading the Christmas story from the bible. Traditions are wonderful!
