Free Front Door Wreath

December 2nd, 2009

This year I’m trying to spend very little money on Christmas decorations. I feel with having 18 storage totes full of Christmas decorations I need to make do with what I already have. I consider this wreath free because I had all the supplies stored away in the Christmas totes. I couldn’t tell you when I bought any of them, except I’m sure they were at an “after Christmas sale”. The ball ornaments are plastic and they came in a big container, probably from Tai Pan or Hobby Lobby. The wreath has been in the basement for at least 3 years.

I decided not to use the red ornaments yet, maybe for another wreath later. I really like the look of the green and silver ornaments together so that’s what I decided to go with. I’ve seen this type of wreath so many places lately, I can’t tell you where it started, but I love the look. I tied the ornaments on the wreath with thin wire. If I put more than one ornament in an area, I used PK’s idea and wired them together first. It saved alot of time and made a lot of sense. I have about 5 ornaments left so I might add those in later, but for now I’m pleased with it.

Here’s another one I made with bulb ornaments tied together. I bought these a few years ago at Hobby Lobby, and of course, the wreath and ribbon had just been hanging out downstairs. Maybe I’ll add some of those red ornaments into this one.

I have at least 2 more naked wreaths downstairs, so you know they’ll be more to come, once inspiration hits.

pretty wreaths, thanks for sharing. I know what you mean about making do, it is so easy to want something new, when we have things just as pretty stored away!

I am LOVING today’s wreaths with the glass balls! I haven’t done one up yet but I want to! I think I’m the only one in blogland that hasn’t gotten with it. Good for you on not being the last. :)

Yours are gorgeous! I love how the light catches the decorations. Such a nice contrast alongside the greens.

This is beautiful. Really, really lovely. I love wreaths too. I think wreaths on a front door just finish Christmas decorations off to a home.
    Well done,
    I enjoy your blog.

Very pretty wreaths! I love the green and silver together. I will be buying some more balls in the after Christmas sales, or before if they are cheap enough.
I am also trying to use mostly decorations I already have and buying only a few new things (very reasonably.) I love storing and organinzing all my Christmas (and seasonal) decorations in labelled totes. Safe and so easy to find everything.
