Fabric Wrapped Bracelets

November 8th, 2009

I got this idea from Blue Cricket Design. I had a lot of those rubber bracelets. It seems like my kids are always getting them for free, they were even passing them out when we were at Legoland. I loved the idea of covering them with fabric and making them into something I might even wear.

Pick a fabric you like. Cut or tear in 1″ wide and at least 16″ long strips. Glue one end of the fabric to the inside of the bracelet.

Start wrapping the fabric around the bracelet. Pull it a little as you wrap, but not too tight. Glue the fabric to the inside of the bracelet when you’re finished wrapping.

I used fabric glue to attach the embellishments like beads, jewels, buttons or fabric bows. I think they would look great with fabric flowers too. Maybe I’ll try that tomorrow.

These would be fun and easy gifts to make for the girls in your life for Christmas or birthdays. My 14 year old just walked in and wants me to make her more. That’s a pretty good endorsement.

Cute ideas!!! I was wondering if you can use regular hot glue instead of fabric glue. I haven’t heard of fabric glue. Oh and how do you follow your blog?? I don’t see an option for that???

Great idea! I may use that one day. Over the past several years, my Mom, Sister, & I have worked hard at making and trying to find bracelets with flowers on them for Mother’s Day for a local resthome. This would be a great idea to use for that. thanks for sharing your ideas with the rest of us. :o )
