Thrifty Shopping Finds

September 27th, 2009

If you read my last post you can tell my weekend was pretty busy. I wasn’t able to go shopping this weekend (and there was a boutique I really wanted to go too), but I did sneak in some shopping during the week on my way to and from other places and appointments. This has just been one crazy, busy week. Here are some fun things I found:

These are from TJ Maxx. I hadn’t been there for a while and I wasn’t disappointed:

Clock for $3.99. I don’t know where I’m going to put it yet, but I couldn’t pass it up.

Hubby even liked these. They are going in my kitchen, but I have to paint that wall first. Maybe this will motivate me. These were $4.99 each.

SS854223

Cute robin’s egg blue saucers for .79 cents each (4 of them).

And a Christmas platter I can’t wait to use for $3.99. I love the picture on it.

I hit an antique store nearby and found a few treasures:

Another insulator (clear this time) for $1.

SS853991

Wood cheese boxes. I probably paid too much for these ($3 and $7), but I just couldn’t pass them up. I really tried, but they kept calling my name. I remember my grandma talking about cheese boxes and I just had to get one (or two). The bigger one still has the top.

Block stamp “G”. I have no reason to have a “G”, I just wanted the stamp. I paid $5 for it, but it’s 4″ tall.

SS853995

I also got 4 hankies for $1.50, salt and pepper shakers for $1.80 (remember when the holes made a “S” and a “P”) and a cake stand for $2.99.

SS854229

Then I went by Savers and found a metal box with shell pictures on top (I need to touch up a spot) for $1.89 and a glass candle holder for $1.49. I think I’ll put shells in the candle holder.

That’s all for this week. Do I dare add everything up? The total is $46.79. Maybe it’s a good thing we’re going on a family vacation next week. Oh, but I bet I’ll still be able to find some great things.

I’m linking this to Thrifty Treasures at Southern Hospitality. Rhoda’s been hosting this party for a while and she’s going to take a little break from it for probably bigger and better things. So go on over and check out other great finds this week, because we all like to share.

Great finds! Thanks for joining the party so faithfully this year. It’s been a lot of fun. We will have plenty to keep us busy, so I hope you’ll come on back to see me. I’m having a fall party Oct. 1st if you’d like to join that.

That cake platter is to die for. It is oh so pretty. Those cheese boxes are very cool too. Oh, and I have to ask – what on earth is an insulator?
