Peek Through Last Week (August 29-September4)

September 6th, 2010

Sunday- I’ve been married for 30 years and have 8 kids, but I am still the only one who knows how to change a roll of toilet paper.

Monday- Making frozen bananas has been on our Summer fun list and we finally got around to making them. The kids loved them especially thick chocolate coating the banana. The kids and hubby all had candy sprinkles on theirs and I had nuts on mine. So yummy!

Tuesday- I don’t feel like I can go Visiting Teaching without taking a gift. I don’t know why, but I feel if I’m going into someone’s home I need to bring them something. Especially if it’s the last day of the month. Shame on me. My goal is to go before the 15th this month.

Wednesday- I promised the boys we’d go to the Zoo today. Parker came with us and Whitney and Maddux met us there. It was perfect weather for a day at the Zoo. Because it was a little cooler, the animals were a lot more active. They were so much more fun to watch. We rode the train and the carousel and got an ice cream cone right before we had to leave. Parker’s favorite animal was the buffalo (bison). Zach and Ammon loved watching the tigers play in the water, with the ball. Since we have a year pass we’ll probably try to go once a month.

Thursday- Ammon’s been wanting to go to the Hill Aerospace Museum. We haven’t gone for a few years and since it’s free how could I say no. Parker came with us again, but I don’t think he was excited about it as he was the zoo. First, we looked at all the planes outside, then we went inside and looked at more planes and watched a few videos. We looked around in the gift shop for a few minutes then I promised the boys if we could get out of there I’d stop at the gas station on the way home and buy them a small treat. Yep, it works everytime.

Friday- The High School was having a home football game. I was in the house and kept hearing a man’s voice. It sounded like he was right outside my window talking, but I couldn’t see anyone. Finally I went outside to listen and figured out what the sound was. It was the voice of the announcer at the football game. I could even understand some of the words he was saying. It is nice to have the High School that close, but it’s weird to be able to hear some of their announcements during school and games. And I don’t have to buy Amanda a car or drive her to school, so that’s a bonus.

Saturday- I’ve been wanting to see the Lion King for 4 years. I’m so glad we bought the tickets before hubby’s pay decrease or we wouldn’t have been able to go. It was amazing. I loved every minute of it. I wouldn’t have dreamed up how they did some of the special effects or the animals. The acting was perfect, the singing and dancing was amazing, the stage was beautiful and the effects were incredible. It was a wonderful 3 hours and I love being able to get dressed up to go some place other than church. Not that I don’t like church, but I like putting on a dress and heels at other times too.

Peek Through Last Week (August 22-28)

August 29th, 2010

Sunday- The girls start school tomorrow. I’m glad I stock up on school supplies when they’re on sale. I usually have most of what the kids need when they go back to school. I keep this tote full of folders, binders, lined paper, composition books, pens, pencils, markers, colored pencils, glue, glue sticks, dry erase markers, etc. Why is always exciting for me and the kids to get the school supplies ready for the 1st day of school?

Monday- Amanda started high school today and Emilee started Jr. High. Is that why I’m so weepy today? Such a big year for both of them. They were so excited and nervous at the same time. Can they open their locker? Will they have friends to sit with at lunch? Will they make it to their classes on time? Will they like their teachers? They had a great 1st day. Hopefully that will continue through the whole year. Aren’t they so cute in their new school clothes?

Tuesday- Zach and Ammon love playing “good guy, bad guy”. They take turns being the good guy then the bad guy. I love watching them play, when they’re playing well together. Sometimes they fight a little too much and I just want them to get along. Today was a good day. They played for hours.

Wednesday- I started on Zach’s bedroom today. He’ll be moving into Adam’s old room and out of the room he shares with Ammon. They’re both excited to have their own room soon. I started with his closet and he loves it so far.

Thursday- Zach had soccer practice then Scouts right after. They had the Raingutter Regatta for pack meeting. The boys had so much fun racing their boats. Zach painted his purple, his favorite color. He put a pirate sticker and number stickers on the sail. They go by wind power so the harder you blow the better. They didn’t give awards for places. They gave creative awards. Zach got the One of a Kind award.

Friday- This is my entry. This is Amanda’s backpack and math book in my entry. I’m standing in the mudroom where her things are suppose to be. The chair is about 10 feet from her locker. Why are her things on the chair instead of in her locker? Yeah, I don’t know either.

Saturday- Zach’s first soccer game was today. He did really well. They lost 4-3 but it was a close game. He’s never played on a team before, just at school with his friends. His coach says he’s really good and thought he had been playing a couple years. His favorite position is goalie. He looks like Mickey Mouse with the gloves on.

Peek Through the Last 2 Weeks (August 8-21)

August 23rd, 2010

I forgot to post last week so I’m combining 2 this week. Be prepared for lots of pictures.

Sunday- After church we headed down to Utah Valley for our niece’s birthday party. Her birthday is usually celebrated in the mountains by Sundance Ski Resort. Her family has a cabin up there. It’s so beautiful in the mountains. We always bring  jackets just incase we need them and as soon as the sun started going down we needed them. We ate dinner, watched Laura unwrap presents and ate cake and ice cream. Her mom always makes the most delicious cakes. Lan Tu might have been a little overwhelmed with all the extended family members, but I think he had fun. What a cute birthday princess.

Monday- Lan Tu wanted to go to the boys’ school today to visit Ammon’s class. He showed the class where China was on a globe, talked about his country and a little about himself. The kids were excited to have him spend some time in class and he was happy to be able to speak Chinese to them. Ammon’s Chinese teacher is Mrs. Chen. She’s from Tawain and enjoyed talking to Lan Tu during the kids’ recess. As we were leaving class we ran into Mr. Lan, Ammon’s Chinese teacher from last year. Mr. Lan and Lan Tu talked for at least 15 minutes in the hall. It was interesting to hear them talking to each other. I understood about 3 words.

Tuesday- The clouds have been gorgeous the last few days. I just had to take a  few pictures.

Wednesday- We got the kids all ready for school, got them registered and I forgot Emilee still needed her shots for Junior High. So we made an appointment at the clinic and got it taken care of, but not before I had to promise Emilee ice cream. We have a tradition of going out for ice cream after shots. It seems to make getting them, hurt a little less. She looks pretty happy for just getting a shot.

Thursday- I made dentist appointments for the kids before school started too. All the kids did well. No Cavities! Emilee and Ammon just need to come back next week for sealants. The waiting room has a TV and video games, so the kids play while they’re waiting. This is what my kids look like while playing. Really? Zombies! Proof  that this is not good for kids for long periods of time.

Friday- Ammon asks for treats more times in a day than I can count. He eats good meals too. He’s just always hungry. I think he’s going through another growth spurt. I caught him in the pantry again for the umpteenth time today.

Saturday- It’s great having a grandchild close by. I wish they were all close. Whitney, Ty and Maddux came over for a few hour today. We went out to dinner with them. Maddux is such a good baby. He hardly ever cries and smiles all the time. Look at those huge eyes.

Sunday- I was craving chocolate today, so after church I made cookie bars. Oh, they were so good. Sometimes it’s just okay and yummy to give into your food cravings.

Monday- We went to an Ogden Raptors baseball game tonight. I’m not sure if Lan Tu had a great time or not. Sometimes he’s hard to read, especially when he puts his earphones in and listens to his music. He did that about half way through the game. In his defense, we were losing big time and I don’t think he really knows much about baseball. The boys had a great time though and Amanda liked looking at the ball players. Sometimes I just like being at the ball park in the evening, whether we’re winning or losing.

Tuesday- Today we went to the Living Planet Aquarium in Salt Lake. The kids and Lan Tu really enjoyed it. Whitney and Madux met us there too. We ate lunch in their little cafe and then explored the exhibits. Ammon liked the penguins, Zach the sharks, Amanda the rays and Emilee the seahorses. We got to touch the rays, sea stars and a few other sea animals. It was a fun day. We’ve had a busy few weeks.

Wednesday- Zachary had his first soccer practice today. The coach told him how good he was and that he liked how he hussled for the ball. He thought he had been playing for a few years. This is his first year playing on a team. He does play a lot on the playground at school with his friends though. I think he’s really going to like playing this year. I took Ammon and Zach to Dairy Queen after his practice. Apparently playing on the playground and soccer practice makes your hair crazy. The girls and Lan Tu went ice blocking today with the Young Men and Young Women. They had a great time.

Thursday- I took the girls shopping today for their school supplies, clothes and shoes. Why does it take so long shopping for school clothes? We found some really good deals so they were able to get more clothes than we had planned on. That’s always fun. We went shopping at the mall, Target and Old Navy and of course, got a little lunch while we were out. Emilee was really excited about the clothes she was able to find.

Friday- Chris and his family moved up from Cedar City this weekend. Emily got a job in Kaysville and it was such a good offer they couldn’t pass it up. Chris is still trying to work out the rest of his schooling. It’s fun to have more grandkids living close to us. So Chris was trimming his eyebrows and from the move the level on the trimmer had moved. He didn’t check it first and oops! He lost an eyebrow. We’re still laughing over it. Good thing he’s takes after my family and his hair grows fast. Not sure why he’s smiling. Oh, and Lan Tu left for China today. I hope he had a good time wth our family. We’re going to miss having him around.

Saturday- Emilee had  dance competition in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It was such a quick drive up there and back. We got there at midnight. Didn’t get to sleep until 2:30am. Woke up at 6:00am. She danced at 9:00am. We rode the alpine slide at Snow King Ski Resort. Ate lunch at Wendy’s. And then were on our way home. That’s the quickest trip we’ve ever taken. Emilee took first place in the sword dance. She did a beautiful job. I love watching her dance.

Peek Through Last Week (August 1-7)

August 10th, 2010

Sunday- We picked up Lan Tu at the airport last night. T’his was a weird first day for him to have with us. We had to quickly explain to him about church in general, fasting, testimony meeting and the different classes he’d be attending. Ammon and him were the only ones that ate breakfast this morning, which he didn’t really understand. He says he’s seen a few churches in China, but he’s never been in one. I think it was a long few hours for him, but he did like singing the hymns. Here’s the guys bonding over a funny show.

Monday- In the Summer, I could take a picture of the sky every day. It’s always beautiful, the cloud formations are always interesting and the colors are breathtaking. I’m in awe at least a dozen times a day. Sunrise and sunsets are my favorites.

Tuesday- Hubby took Emilee to dance while I got things quickly prepared for a picnic. I love picnics. Being outside, watching the kids play and piecing on yummy food. Fresh fruit looks and tastes better from a canning jar and soda tastes even better from a paper straw, until the ants start coming. Then I hurry and gather up the food and blankets and go for a walk.

Wednesday- We had taken Lan Tu for dinner at a Chinese Restaurant on Monday. He ordered what he wanted, it came, he took a bite and said “this isn’t like the food in China, I’ll make you real Chinese food”. I’ve never been to China, so I’ve never eaten food they way they make it there. I always thought our Chinese food was probably made for our American tastes and Lan Tu confirmed it. He made us real Chinese food tonight. The ingredients were pork, green onion, celery, green beans, garlic, soy sauce and salt. He was very picky about the soy sauce and pork he bought. Oh, and it was delicious ! Way better than American Chinese food. I took a picture of the finished dish but accidentially deleted it. I think it cooked for about 2 1/2 hours.

Thursday- Today we decided to go American on our food. Ammon helped me make pizza and breadsticks. Lan Tu loved it, especially the breadsticks. He eats really well. That means a lot, all of the time. Ammon loves to get his apron on and help prepare whatever I’m cooking. So cute!

Friday- The boys have early out from school every friday, so by 1:15 today they were out for the weekend. We decided to take the Frontrunner downtown to the Gateway Plaza. Whitney and Maddux meet us there. It was so hot so the kids ran through the fountain for a few minutes then we had ice cream and sorbet at Ben & Jerry’s. We looked around in Build-a-Bear, bought some books in Barnes & Noble, and checked out some clothing stores. I think the boys were getting bored so we stopped to get some cookies for our way home. Ammon and Zach were excited to ride the train. I didn’t love it. The movement made me a little queezy.

Saturday- Hubby, Zach, Ammon and Lan Tu went to Golden Spike Monument and other areas around there that would be interesting to boys and boys at heart. They had a really fun time and the weather was great. Me and the girls stayed home and got caught up on some things that should have been done long ago. Later in the evening we all went to the play, Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat. They did such a great job. I love that play, so does Hubby. We came home and watched the one from Broadway. I still love it no matter how many times I watch it.

Tuesdays Unwrapped at Chatting at the Sky

Peek Through Last Week (July 25-31)

August 3rd, 2010

Sunday- I’m getting together the things I’m going to need for Girls Camp later this week. My girls are also getting their things together and packed in their bags. I love the checklist the camp leaders handed out to the girls. Now I don’t have to nag mine to make sure they have everything packed for camp. Well, maybe just a little. I have to make sure they don’t forget the 2 most important things to bring to camp. You wouldn’t believe how many girls forget their books.

Monday- We haven’t had rain for weeks. Girls Camp is tomorrow and this is how the sky looks this evening. Figures, doesn’t it?

Tuesday- We hiked up Adam’s Canyon before we headed up to Girls Camp. We got an early start, about 7:30am, which was a good thing since the temperature rose to 96 degrees. The hike is steep with loose sand at the beginning of the trail, but becomes easier toward the top. It’s a beautiful hike with small falls and shade covering the last part of the trail. The girls were so prepared for the hike and didn’t complain even once. Jessica gave us a lesson on the atonement at different stops along the way. It was a wonderful experience.

Wednesday- Is there anything better than sitting around a campfire in the early evening? The weather was beautiful during the day. We had some rain in the evening as we were getting ready to go to our tents. It didn’t rain much. Just enough to enjoy the sound of the drops hitting the tent as I was falling asleep.

Thursday- We headed for East Canyon in the late morning. The girls were hot and ready to spend some time in the cool water. Gary brought up his big floating island for the girls to enjoy and boy did they. Jumping on and off over and over again. After an hour or so the leaders got a turn on it. I wish I had one of these. My kids would love it.

Friday- Ammon’s been so excited to spend the night at Whitney and Ty’s since they moved up here. It’s all he’s been talking about for weeks. Zach and Ammon had a great time. They ate dinner with them, hung out in Ty’s parents hot tub, ate snacks and watched movies. Whitney made them pancakes for breakfast the next morning, which they love. And they had a fun time playing with Maddux. Look how happy they are to be spending time with their sister.

Saturday- Hubby wanted to swim and invited everyone to join him. I guess it didn’t matter to anyone that it was raining, except for Ammon. He got out as soon as he heard the thunder. He still gets thunder and lightening confused and he wasn’t about to take any chances. If this picture doesn’t prove my family is crazy I don’t know what does.

Peek Through Last Week (July 18-24)

July 26th, 2010

Sunday- While I was getting Ammon clothes out to wear today, I found his candy stash. He likes candy but he doesn’t crave it like I do. He can have one small piece every few days and be satisfied. I’m not sure he should trust his mom knowing where his stash is.

Monday- I took the boys school clothes shopping today. We stopped by McDonald’s for lunch first. I needed some food to get me through the next few hours. At their age I still have a lot of say in what they wear, so that went smoothly. They both had money to spend, so we spent a lot of time hunting for the perfect Bakugans for them to battle with. Then they spent time in the car, between stores, arguing over whos Bakugans had the most power points. Is there really any way to know who wins a Bakugan battle?

Tuesday- First day of school for Zach and Ammon. It was hard for me to send them to school today. They only had 2 1/2 weeks of Summer this year, but because of the track they’re on they’ll be off again in 2 1/2 weeks. I know, it doesn’t make sense to me either, but I’m glad they’ll have more time off for Summer. I really dislike year-round school. If it’s ever suggested in your area fight it with all your might. Ammon was excited to go to school all day, but it’s going to be an adjustment for me.

Wednesday- Have you seen these bracelets everywhere? Why can’t I be the one to come up with some simple, inexpensive fad that everyone swarms to the stores to buy? Since I didn’t come up with the idea, I’ll just have to swarm to the store and spend my money like everyone else. They are pretty cute and my kids love them. But I do have to blame my mom for getting my kids collecting them. She’s the one who introduced them to my kids. Now we have handfuls of them in our house.

Thursday- Emilee, Amanda and I picked the boys up from school, then headed to the zoo for a few hours. Boy, did we pick a hot day to walk around the zoo. I’m so glad they have those water misters everywhere. The kids were under them every time I turned around. We watched the baby elephant play for a while. So cute, I wonder how much she weighs already. We rode the train and played on the playground for a while. Then we went to pick up the kids Uncle Max out by the airport. He was in town just for the day, then was heading back to Georgia and to my sister and the kids. Whitney, Ty and Adam all came for dinner too. It was nice to visit with Max and hear about things at home. I miss not living close to my family. I hope my sister can come out with him next time.

Friday- Another day at Lagoon. The kids love it! Once a year is usually enough for me, but here I am for the second time in 2 weeks. I am reminded once again how much my kids have grown up. My baby can now ride on every ride at Lagoon.  He wants me to go with him on all the rides so at least I get to enjoy the ride with him. And marval at how big my little guy is getting. And try not to cry when I think about it too much.

Saturday- Pioneer Day! Time to celebrate Utah’s heritage. Spending time with family, cooking, eating, playing, swimming, watching fireworks, just being together. What a wonderful day.

Peek Through Last Week (July 11-17)

July 18th, 2010

Sunday- This was just so funny I couldn’t miss the opportunity to take a picture. Julien had been bringing blankets and pillows to all of us watching movies, to make us more comfortable. He brought a big blanket to his dad and grandpa and told them they had to share. We all started laughing, but he was serious and wanted them to be in it together. They didn’t want to disappoint him so this is how they watched the rest of the movie.

Monday- It’s been hot, hot, hot! After dinner and as soon as things cooled down a bit, we went outside to play for a while. The adults hung out on the deck while the boys jumped on the trampoline. I love hanging out on the deck on Summer evenings.

Tuesday- Zach set up the course for croquet. It was interesting, but we were able to make it through. We had a few too many people to play, so some of us played with a partner. Stephane and Julien, Traci and Benjamin, Leanne and Ammon. Emilee, Zach and Amanda played by themselves and hubby watched Sebastien. Stephane and Julien won.

Wednesday- Hubby’s work Lagoon day. The kids ask all year long when Dad’s work Lagoon day is coming up. The big kids always break away from the younger ones to enjoy the bigger rides and not having to wait for the younger ones. We ate lunch in the pavillion reserved for hubby’s company, then stuck around a bit for the raffle. Every year they have a raffle. Hubby’s mostly won camp chairs every year, but this year we got an extra special prize. An extension cord with a light on the end! whoot-whoot! We always win the big prizes. We took a break from the heat and spent a few hours in Lagoon-A-Beach. In the evening we headed back to the rides. What a fun filled day for the kids. Julien fell asleep as we were leaving.

Thursday- Zachary went to Scout Day Camp today at Camp Kiesel. They all met at the church at 7am to head up the canyon. It’s a fun camp. I had the opportunity to go there a few years ago with some scouts. Zach had a great time shooting BB guns and bow and arrows, traversing an obstacle course, shooting off rockets they made, boating and playing lots of games. He came home very happy, tired and dirty.

Friday- Ammon has a treasured stuffed animal named Mouse Moose Michael. I’ll write a longer post about it later, but we had a bad mishap. Ammon was sick one night and Mouse Moose took the brunt of it. We took a trip to the mall to renew Mouse Moose and get him a new body. Have you ever seen a happier little boy? We had to stop for pretzel bites and a drink too.

Saturday- We spent the day doing random things and running little errands. We had an early dinner with most of the family at Robintino’s (hubby’s favorite restaurant). Traci, Stephane, Benjamin, Julien and Sebastien are flying back to Canada. Whitney and I drove them to the airport to catch their flight at 8pm. It’s hard with them living so far away. I’m sure the boys will change tons, but we’ll see them again in December for Christmas. Julien didn’t want his picture taken.

Peek Through Last Week (July 4-10)

July 11th, 2010

Sunday- Independence Day! Baby Blessing Day for 2 of our grandchildren! It was so wonderful to be able to be at 2 of our grandchildren’s blessings on the same day. It was such a blessing that so many family members were able to come and celebrate with them. Church was at 9:00 am, then we went to the park for a brunch with all 3 extended families. There were at least 100 family members total. Maddux (Whitney & Ty) was blessed by Ty, Ella (Chris & Emily) was blessed by Chris. Ty, Whitney holding Maddux, Emily holding Ella and Chris holding Parker. What cute families!

Monday- We’re still in Cedar City, but leaving today. They celebrated the 4th today since it fell on a Sunday this year. Hubby, my dad, Chris, Stephane and Ty went golfing early this morning. They made it back in time for all of us to go to the parade by 9:00 am. I love taking the kids to parades, especially for the 4th. We went to the park after the parade to hear Ty’s sister-in-law sing. She did a beautiful job. Instead of staying at the park and eating we headed over to a sandwich shop to get out of the heat for a while. Then it was time to help Whitney and Ty finish packing and cleaning for their move to Salt Lake. We left for home at about 4:00pm, but not before I made a quick stop at my favorite antique store. Benjamin on Stephane’s shoulders.

Tuesday- Hubby was set apart as a High Priest in our Church today. We decided to have it done today so his dad could be the one to perform the ordination. He’s going out of town for a month or so. Hubby’s parents and my parents were both able to be there which made it even more special. It was a wonderful spiritual moment in hubby’s and mine life. I’m happy to have the gospel in my life and that hubby honors the priesthood. Doesn’t he look handsome?

Wednesday- I’m so excited my mom and dad were able to come out for a visit. It seems like it had been so long since we saw them last. It’s hard to have them and my other family members living so far away. I wish we could have spent more time with them but we had a lot of fun jammed into a few short days. The kids were happy to be able to spend some more time with them too and are really missing them now. Thanks for the fun visit and we hope to see you again soon.

Thursday- Emilee’s orthodontist has a summer party every year at the Roy Aquatic Center. The kids have such a great time there, plus it’s on our Summer Fun Banner. They serve a picnic type dinner to all the patients and family members. Then they have booths set up around the grounds serving cotton candy, popcorn, donuts and balloon animals. There was also a live band playing. Zach stood in line for the donuts 25 minutes, then it was time to go. He was so sad he had wasted so much time, so we stopped to get donuts on the way home. We gave them tons of sugar right before bed. Not a great idea! Ammon, Ben and a friend of Ammon’s playing in the sprinkler area.

Friday- My favorite Summer treat! I love fresh cherries! Actually I love anything with cherries. Cherry pie, cherry cheesecake, cherry cobbler, brownies with cherry pie filling on top, cherry turnovers. You get the idea.

Saturday- Emilee had another dance competition today in Payson. It was at the Payson Scottish Festival. We drove down in separate cars since Traci and Stephane and the boys came. Whitney, Ty and Maddux came to watch too. She did well, but not as good as the last competition. I guess missing a few dance lessons made a difference. She was a little sad, but came out of it fast. We went to Whitney and Ty’s new place after and spent a few hours just hanging out and letting the kids play. Adam had guard duty this weekend so we saw him for a minutes in the evening and he ate dinner with us. You always see some interesting things at Scottish Festivals. The dog in the kilt was my favorite this time.

Don’t forget to go here to enter the giveaway for a pair of awesome earrings from Treasures Uncovered by Chantel. You can still link your Organizing post to We’re Organized Wednesday and be automatically entered to win a pair of earrings, plus share your wonderful organizing ideas.

Sunday- My little handsome guys. Haircuts, nice shirts, slacks, dress shoes and ties. Dressed and ready for Church with smiles that melt my heart.

Monday- Today was Science day in Kindergarten. Ammon had to color a face on his egg and protect it from getting cracked. He decided cotton balls and sweater pieces would be soft enough to keep it safe. And he was right. They dropped it from a ladder and it survived. He was so excited.

Tuesday- Zach was so excited his baseball team, the Jays, made it to the playoffs. They won their first 2 games and that put them in the Championship game. It was so exciting to watch them work hard as a team. They lost the Championship game but had a lot of fun this season. The coaches are great and taught the boys to have fun and play hard. We only had 2 runs the last game. This is Zach coming in with one of the runs. Congratulations Zach! Great game!

Wednesday- This is the last week of school so there’s lots of activities. Zach’s class had a Pioneer class party where they played pioneer games, ate scones and tied a quilt. The kids brought in fabric for the quilt, their teacher put it together and then the kids tied it. It turned out beautiful.

Thursday- Today was 6th grade graduation for Emilee. What a milestone in her life with many great academic accomplishments this year. She received the President’s Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement, Presidential Physical Fitness Award, Outstanding Attendance Award and the Hope Of America Award. Congratulations Emmy! On to Junior High and even more accomplishments.

Friday- Traci, Stephane and the boys arrived from Canada. We packed up the cars and headed down to Cedar City for Maddux and Ella’s baby blessings. We had Ben ride in the van with us. Ben, Zach and Ammon had fun watching movies and eating lots of snacks on the way down. We got in pretty late and Ben was asleep when we got to Whitney and Ty’s house.

Saturday- We usually stay at Whitney and Ty’s but we let Traci, Stephane and the boys stay there and we stayed in a hotel. In the afternoon, we all decided to go swimming at the hotel pool. We had 23 of our family members in the pool. My mom and dad were staying at the same hotel. Hubby’s parents and other family members stayed at a hotel down the street, but came to ours to swim and watch the kids play. The kids liked the hot tub too.

Peek Through Last Week (June 20-26)

June 30th, 2010

Yes, I know I’m behind. That’s my story this week. It’s our last week of school and you know what that means: school parties, field day, concerts, programs, and graduations. Plus we have baseball play-offs. Busy, busy, busy! Anyway, this was last week.

Sunday- Father’s Day! I hope we made it a great day for hubby! The kids made lots of fun things for him at home and at school. I made banana chocolate chip muffins for hubby for breakfast. Then we went to Church where the kids made him some cards and he received a candy bar with a note attached to it from the Ward. After Church he opened his gifts from all of us, we ate a quick lunch and thenwent down to his dad’s house to wish him a Happy Father’s Day. We visited for a while with his parents and his brother and his family, then we came back home for a chicken dinner and banana creme pie for dessert. I called my dad to wish him a Happy Father’s Day and tell him how excited I am that they’re coming for a visit soon.

Monday- This week is Syracuse Heritage Days. For the last few years they’ve been having a talent contest called Syracuse Idol, so every Monday evening of that week we’ve been going to watch and vote. Some are good, some not so good, but it’s fun and we always bring our dinner to eat while we watch. This is Adam and Amanda’s expressions during a not so great performance.

Tuesday- We did our first activity on our Summer Fun List banner even though we’re not out of school yet. The kids are only going to have a few weeks off of school, so we’ll be working on our list even if we’re in school. Today we made our favorite summer dessert. Smores! I love my marshmallows on fire, hubby doesn’t like them brown at all and the kids are some where in the middle. Mmmmm, smores!

Wednesday- My little guy is the cutest kid ever. He’s amazing at pretend and loves to use daddy’s things to help him in his adventures. Here he’s Indiana Ammon. He told me all about how he found the treasure and what he had to go through to get it. He always makes me smile. He always wants me to take his picture too.

Thursday- Because my hair is so short I get it cut every 6 weeks. I love my stylist, Heidi! She colors my hair for me too. Highlights and color one appointment and just root touch-ups the next to save me a little money. Hubby looks great with gray hair, but I’m not even taking the chance. Oh, she give the best head massages too!

Friday- We went to the Syracuse heritage Days Carnival after dinner. This is the first year we’ve had real rides and not just blow up slides and such. We must be turning into a big city now. Just kidding, but the kids  always have a great time and we always eat too many treats. Who can pass up cotton candy, ice cream, scones, kettle corn and lemonade? Apparently not us. My cute younger four.

Saturday- We love parades! Especially ones that we can walk out our front door, walk down 3 houses, across the street and then have our seat for viewing the parade. What would be even better is if I could get the parade to turn left instead of right, then we could watch it from our front porch. That’s my dream! The parade was great fun. The kids got lots of candy, some icees, free sno-cones, a few frisbees and balloons. Small town parades are the best! Emilee’s getting squirted by her friend Emily.

Now I’m going to try to get caught up on other things.
