Last Week’s D.I. Finds

September 5th, 2010

Monday I stopped by the D.I. for a quick look to see if there was anything worth bringing home. I got a wire embroidery hoop (.50),  metal pot ($1.00), candlestick (.50),

picture frame ($1.00) and 4 napkin rings ($1.00). I’m excited to fix them up and turn them into things we can use.

Total of $4.00. Did you find anything worth bringing home this week?

Shutters and Vases

August 29th, 2010

I found some fun things for my home a few weeks ago that I haven’t shared yet.

I bought 2 milk glass vases for $1.50 each. I love that they’re a little different and have more of an “art deco” feel to them.

And I found these shutters for only $5. I stuck them in my bathroom window to see if they’d fit. Of course, they need some adjustments and need to be painted, but I think I can make them work. I hope to show you the finished project by next week.

That’s it. A grand total of $8 well spent.

Edited: I forgot to mention I found these things at Savers.

Another Amazing Sale

August 22nd, 2010

My friend invites me to this most amazing sale twice a year. I’ve done a post about it before and don’t ask me where it is. It’s so secret she has to blind fold me to take me there. Okay, not really, but it is for the employees only (and a friend) of the company she works for. I’ll give you the total of this amazing sale at the bottom of the post.

I’ve been wanting a firepit forever, but didn’t want to pay the huge price for one. Look what I got.

More outdoor fire accessories.

A camp chair and plant stand. I’m going to do something fun with the camp chair for Zach’s room.

This statue reminds me of Ammon. I’m not sure where I’m putting it yet.

A few outdoor things for the kids.

These plastic drink dispensers will be great for parties.

More fun containers for parties.

Paper products for lunch boxes, picnics and parties.

Lots of fun kitchen gadgets.

These glass markers are my favorite.

How cute would this be marking your glass?

Mason jar glasses. I love these.

Big plastic cups for hubby. He doesn’t like having to refill his drink.

Huge candle holders. I’m not sure where I’m putting these yet.

Some flag banners and 2 flags on poles I forgot to take a picture of.

And all for only $50. What an awesome deal! I love these sales and my best friend for taking me.

Coke Bottle Crate

August 8th, 2010

I was so excited to find this. Sometimes it’s nice to find something and not have to do anything to it.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my spray paint. But when something’s already perfectly painted it ’s hard to pass it by.

It was $11. I don’t know of that’s a good price or not, but I don’t care. It’s worth $11 to me.

I had these bottle laying around the house. Don’t they look at home now?

Wouldn’t this be fun to hold soda bottles for parties?

I sat it on the counter to take pictures, but then noticed it looked great next to the white pitcher and blue vase.

So I decided to keep it there for a while. A while could mean 2 days or 2 months to me. But I like it at this moment so it’s staying put.

New Bag

August 1st, 2010

I can’t believe I forgot to share my new bag with you. I bought it at Ross about a month ago for only $10. Isn’t it awesome?

I love the leather shoulder strap, how it hooks on the bag and all the fun details.

My favorite detail is the lining. Isn’t it gorgeous?

Thrifty Earring Finds

July 25th, 2010

I got such a steal on these earrings. I can’t believe I never showed you. I go to the D. I. about once a week, but seldom look at their jewelry anymore because I haven’t had much luck finding anything I like. They were trying to get rid of an over abundance of jewelry so things were on sale. The earrings were 4/$5.00. I had to take a look to see if I might luck out and find something I like. I did!

These are probably my favorite and I wear them the most often, because they go with so many things.

These have a screw on back. I love how bright and sparkly they are.

These are screw on also and so light. I’m not sure what they’re made of. They’re stamped “Made in Germany” on the back.

I wore these to church today. They’re stamped LC on the back.

I think I got an amazing deal on these beautiful earrings. Amanda thinks so too, she keeps trying to steal the black flower ones from me.

D.I. Thrifty Finds

July 18th, 2010

I haven’t had much time lately to hit the garage sales or thrift stores, but I was able to make a quick stop at the D.I. earlier this week. It seems I can always find a few things that need to come home with me.

These Christmas dessert plates were 4 for $1. I think they’re so cute and I can’t wait to use them this Christmas.

I can’t pass up any candlestick holders. These were $1 for the tall one and .50 cents for the small one.

The quart milk bottle was $1 and the other bottle was .50 cents. You know I’ll find something to do with them.

For a grand total of $4 I have some fun, inexpensive, new-to-me pieces to work with and make into something beautiful.

Ball Canning Jars

July 8th, 2010

We were in Cedar City for the weekend, but were so busy I didn’t think I was going to have enough time to visit my favorite antique store. How sad would that be? As we were leaving town we made a quick stop at Betty’s. She always has Ball canning jars. They’re hard to come by up here and if I do find them they cost way more than I want to spend. She had a tub full of them and they were 50% off. I bought 3 blue ones for $3.25 each. I can’t wait to show you what I’m going to do with 2 of these, as soon as I figure out how to do it.

I bought this canning jar with a wire lid for $3.25 also. Does anyone know anything about this kind? I really like it.

Did you find any fun things this week?

Thrifty Decorating and Other Finds

June 27th, 2010

On my monthly trip to the Pharmacy, I can’t help but stop at the cosignment store across the street to see what new treasures they might have for me to bring home. This drink dispenser was only $6. I love the brass spout and it really works. I tried it out. It will be so fun to use this Summer.

This milk glass footed bowl was $5. I’m not sure where I’m putting it yet, but I love it.

These blue bowls were $9 for both of them. I think they’ll look pretty with fruit or salads in them.

And this cute boat was only $3. I think I’ll use this as a pattern to make more. And of course, I’ll put it out for the 4th.

Since I didn’t have any kids with me, I decided to stop at Ross on the way home. I found this cute apron for $9. It will be great for Summer and perfect to wear for our annual Luau.

I know another plate. I already have too many, but it was only $1.49 and it was the right color. If I don’t use it in the dining room, I’ll use it somewhere else.

This was for Zach, because he said he lost his lunch box at school (it’s been missing for a week). Of course, the day I bought this one he found his. Oh well, it was only $1.49 and now I have an extra one, just incase.

I actually bought these at Ross about a month ago but I don’t think I’ve ever shown them. They’re Steve Madden and were only $11.99. Aren’t they cute? I love them, but only for 6-8 hours, not 12.

That’s my thrifty finds for this week. How did you do?

Tai Pan Trading Tent Sale

June 17th, 2010

Tai Pan Trading is having their big tent sale again. It’s 50-75% off everything outside the store and in the tent. The items in the tent are now an additional 25% off. It’s been extended through this Saturday. If any of you live near one, you might want to go check it out. There weren’t many things I just had to have this time, but of course, I was able to find some things to bring home.

This frame was just $1.98. I’m sure I’ll be able to find a great use for it, once it’s painted.

This mirror was originally $30. I got it for $7.50. It’s 20×24″. Once it’s painted it will go in Emilee’s room.

This metal sign will go great in Ammon’s room with the other wall decor I showed yesterday. I love that it’s rusty around the edges. Oh, and only .61 cents.

These three signs aren’t staying this way. They were .61 cents too. They’re magnetic and I have some thank you gifts to make, so I have a fun plan for them.

These candle holders were my favorite find. They measure 9″ and 11″. They were in the tent, so they were an additional 25% off. The large one’s were $5.74 and the smaller one was $4.99.

I love them. Perfect for Summer and our picnic table.

So, the total spent at the Tai Pan Sale is $29.00. Woo-Hoo! I love a good sale!
