Coke Bottle Crate
I was so excited to find this. Sometimes it’s nice to find something and not have to do anything to it.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my spray paint. But when something’s already perfectly painted it ’s hard to pass it by.
It was $11. I don’t know of that’s a good price or not, but I don’t care. It’s worth $11 to me.
I had these bottle laying around the house. Don’t they look at home now?
Wouldn’t this be fun to hold soda bottles for parties?
I sat it on the counter to take pictures, but then noticed it looked great next to the white pitcher and blue vase.
So I decided to keep it there for a while. A while could mean 2 days or 2 months to me. But I like it at this moment so it’s staying put.

I finally found it! I’ve been looking for it at every store I’ve gone into for the last few weeks and finally found it! And I’m not disappointed. I’ve been devouring every page over and over again. The pictures are so gorgeous. Just look at that cover.

There are so many wonderful projects I want to try. Like this journal cover and zig-zag chain around the cake stand.

Or what about covering a lampshade with a crocheted table runner. I need to find one of these.

I think this is one of my favorites and so easy. Now I just need to find some old rubber stamps.

What about more cake stands? Hubby would say I’ve already made enough. But they’re kind of addicting. Maybe I’ll make some for gifts.

Here are some of the ones I made.

I am for sure finding a food scale this year. My kitchen is in bad need of one.

These rooms are so inspiring. I would like to be able to take some of these elements and bring them in to my own home. These pillows are amazing and I love the simplicity of the curtains.

How about the color palette of this room and the beautiful paned window.

I’ve been wanting to change the color of my table. I really like this look.

And if my basement ever gets finished this is the look I’m going for in the little kitchen area.

And of course a beautiful playhouse. The kids are getting too old, but the grandkids would love it. Since I have grandsons right now maybe it would have to be a bit more rustic.

That’s my inspiration for this week. Maybe I should quit dreaming and actually get something done. I’ll work on that!
All of the pictures are from Flea Market Style Magazine except for my dessert stands.
Have a beautiful weekend!

It’s time to take down Christmas. I usually take it down on New Years Day, but we were driving home from a quick trip to Cedar City. Our son-in-law works at Chili’s and had to work New Years night so we drove down to spend some time with our daughter. You know how Hubby loves a road trip. I had plans to work on getting some projects I had in my head down on paper, but I read a whole book instead. “Dear John” by Nicholas Sparks. I haven’t read a whole book in a long time. I highly recommend reading it. Anyway, here’s some fun from our quick trip.
The boys waiting for their food at Chili’s. Zach didn’t want to comb his hair, so he wore his beanie the whole trip:
Emilee, Whitney and me. Hubby says I’m never in enough pictures, so he snapped this one:

Our server (our son-in-law and Whitney’s hubby):

Watching the basketball game. The Jazz lost by 1. Soooo sad:

We played games and made treats:

Mmmmm, Muddy Buddies:

While Hubby napped, so he could be awake at midnight. Is he getting old or what? Don’t tell him I put this picture in:

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!

I bet Whitney and Ty’s neighbors loved this:

Definitely time for bed for some little people:

I just had to show this, while Whitney and Ty were visiting us for Christmas some of their neighbors had dropped off gifts and left them on their front porch. They get all sorts of critters visiting them in the winter, even deer, and apparently they like chocolate. I hope they didn’t get a tummy ache. It reminds me of the movie “Over the Hedge”:

Whitney and I had gone to my favorite antique store in Cedar City and look what I found. I was in Heaven! Aren’t they beautiful? I can’t wait to put them on the tree next year. Most of them are from the 50’s and 60’s, but the little gold one is from the 40’s. I just love looking at them and am so happy I found them. Betty, the store owner, had got them when she was back East:

Well, now it’s time to take down Christmas. I miss the decorations, but I love cleaning everything and putting it all away too. Eleven more months and it’s time to bring it all out again. It’s always exciting, because I can never remember everything I have. I’ll have a post on storing decorations soon. Thanks for stopping by!

I didn’t find a lot of things this week, but I got some pretty good deals on the things I did find.
I found these first treasures at an antique store near my home:

Vintage apron: marked down to $3.20.

Linen table runner: marked down to $3.00.
Old bottles: marked down to $1.00 each. I can’t seem to pass up bottles, especially if they’re marked down.

Old Insulator: marked down to $3.20. It’s in my boy’s room. I love the color!
These next items I found at Deseret Industries (it’s like Goodwill):

The white bowl was .50 and the three glass votive holders (I think that’s what they are) were .25 each, but I’m using them as toothpick holders. I think they’re pretty.
I was already going to Deseret Industries because I needed to drop off a few things. I had cleaned out my boy’s room, closet, playroom and upstairs bookshelf. There are 7 garbage bags full of things that no longer fit or they don’t use anymore. I love going to garage sales, but I don’t do them. I would rather donate and not have things hanging around my house till it’s time for the sale.

I’m linking this to Rhoda over at Southern Hospitality so you can go over and see other Labor Day weekend thrifty finds.
Have a wonderful Labor Day!

I started collecting bottles about a year ago. My daughter started it for me. She had been at her friend’s house, playing in her back field and found some old bottles buried in the ground. Apparently their back field used to be part of an old railroad line, so they’ve found a lot of bottles and other things buried back there. We cleaned the bottles out as best we could and now they’re here (at each end):

There are more soda bottles, some spice bottles and a battery oil bottle also on the window sill.
I bought all these small bottles from an antique store a few towns away. They were all in a box with the outside marked $10. They’re a mix of medicine, perfume, spice, battery oil and ink well bottles and are spread throughout my house:

These are bottles I got at an antique store in Cedar City. They’re going in the girls bathroom when it’s finished:

These are from the Scottish Festivals we go to. They’re called Bison Brew and will refill them with rootbeer or cream soda for $1 when you bring them back, so I keep them. Plus I love the shape of them:

Here are some other random bottles that I have around the house, because of their shape or color:

Sorry about this picture I took it at night and had to use the flash, so it’s not very good. The bottles are hanging from a stucco post and you can lift off the bottom and put tealight candles in them:

Bottles are fascinating to me. They can have such a history and come in so many shapes, sizes and colors that they’re never boring. Plus, they bring back memories. Here are some more I need to share:

I’m linking to Hooked on Fridays at Hooked on Houses. I love seeing what everyone else is hooked on this week, so I’m going over to Julia’s Hooked on Houses. You should too.
Have a beautiful weekend!

Now, back to antique shopping in Cedar City. We were down in Cedar visiting our college kids and their families a few weekends ago. By the way, SUU is an awesome school. Anyway, I came across this incredible antique shop just around the corner from where my kids live. All the pictures I took are outside, but she has some incredible finds inside too. Just too many to count or take pictures of. I wish I would have known about this place and then I could have saved up for more buys. Oh yeah, I have kids down there so I guess I’ll have to stop by again. Here’s a look at some of the fun things she has hanging around her shop:

Lots of bottles. These were all only $1 each.

Trunks.

Lots of windows.

Love these chairs.

Love these chairs too.

A big crate full of fun finds.

Screen doors.

Posts.

Architectural details.

These cool benches.

Lots of sleds.

Look at all these treasures!
Here’s what I bought:
I wanted to buy something else too, but I debated over it with myself for too long and then we drove out of town. But all was not lost! Remember, I have kids in Cedar, so I just called my daughter and had her get it for me. She was coming up this weekend anyway (her car was just a little more crowded). I’ll have to show it to you later and what I have in mind for it. I’m really excited about it. My son-in-laws only response to the purchase was, “Why does your mom want this?”
Let me tell you a little more about this shop. It’s: Betty’s Antiques & Collectibles, 1181 S. Main Street, Cedar City, Utah 84720 (435)586-7221. A lot of her architectural details, doors, windows, etc. come from a contractor in New England. She can tell you how old everything is, where it came from and sometimes even who owned it. If you’re ever in the area make sure to stop by and take a look at the wonderful selection of antiques she has. I have her keeping an eye out for blue and green glass knobs for me. I can’t wait till I have a chance to go down to Cedar and visit her shop again.
Thanks Betty for letting me spend some time with you and take pictures of your incredible antiques.
