Updating the Summer Fun Banner
As we do an activity on the Summer Fun Banner we take off the generic picture and replace it with a picture of our family. Here’s what we’ve done so far:
S’mores
Croquet:
Trampoline:
Roy Aquatic Pool:
Cedar City:
Chalk Drawing:
Lagoon:
And here’s our banner now:
Do you have a Summer Fun List you’re working on?

This year I thought we’d amp up our Summer Fun List a bit. First I asked the kids what they wanted to do this Summer. Then I printed images off the computer that related to our list.
I trimmed them up.
And added some cardstock to the back to make them sturdier since I had just printed them on regular printer paper.
Then I trimmed the cardstock.
I finished them in the Living Room while watching So You Think You Can Dance.
Then I attached them to twine with small clothes pins.
And hung them on the Dining Room wall. This is the wall I’m suppose to hang all the plates on, but as you can see I haven’t even painted it yet. I’m such a slacker. Now it’s going to have to wait till the end of Summer.
I think it turned out pretty cute and the kids love it.
As we do each activity, we’ll take a picture and put it in place of the computer image.
By the end of Summer we should have pictures of our family replacing all the other pictures.
What do you think? I like it and now I have something on my blank wall.
Has your family made a Summer Fun List?

What did you do this weekend? We spent Saturday morning watching our daughter in a Christmas play the school was putting on. Does your chest puff up and you feel all fluttery inside every time you watch your child perform or participate in anything? Yeah, mine too. It was fun to watch and all the kids worked really hard and practiced many hours. What a great way to start the holidays and get in the spirit of the season. Emilee had 2 parts. A narrator elf and Peppermint the Elf.
My favorite line she said: Or Shawanna’s Barbie Fairytpoia Mermaidia Elina Doll with removable fairy wings and other accessories? ( She’s standing next to Santa)

Doug’s favorite line: Oh, the humanity! (She’s crying in this part, on the end with the bunny).

As one of the narrators (on the right).

With another little elf friend after the performance.

This is what we came home to after the play.

It was blowing up on the front porch. I guess it’s time to bring the wicker chairs in.

Snowy pumpkins.

Do you love the first snow of the season? The kids couldn’t wait to get their coats and boots on and head outside.
What a beautiful day! I hope you had a beautiful weekend!

Planning a Party
It’s the beginning of the party season. Have you always wanted to host a holiday party, but aren’t sure how to pull it off without feeling overwhelmed? Break it down into smaller, easier to manage chunks. Start now to plan for the party you’ll be having in a few weeks.
FIRST THINGS FIRST
· Choose a party theme.
· Keep a file of all your party info-recipes, games, decorations, etc.
· Decide how many guests to invite-how many can you comfortably accommodate in your area?
· Set a date, time and place for your party.
· Make a shopping list for everything you will need.
· Make a list of tasks that can be done in advance and a list for the day of the party.
BUDGET
· Decorations
· Food and drinks
· Invitations and postage
· Entertainment
· Any rentals
· Miscellaneous expenses
A FEW WEEKS BEFORE
· Decide on your guest list.
· Purchase or make invitations and send them out.
· Purchase decorations and paper goods.
· Contract for entertainment and equipment rentals.
· Plan menu and purchase non-perishable foods and drinks.
· Pick out and record or download music to go with your theme.
ONE OR TWO WEEKS BEFORE
· Get a final count on the number of guests.
· Shop for bulk of perishable foods.
· Finalize your area layout and decorations.
· Choose what you and your family will wear to the party.
TWO OR THREE DAYS BEFORE
· Clean your house if you are having your party at home.
· Begin decorating.
· Shop for any last minute food or supplies.
· Prepare food.
· Touch base with rental and entertainment company.
· Make a plan for cleaning up, returning rentals, leftovers, etc.
