Book Pages Decorative Ball

I’m not sure what to call this. I’ve been seeing different things done with book pages. I had this foam ball and a book not being read, so I thought why not put them together in a creative way.

First, I cut the margins off all the pages. I wanted print to the edges of all the pieces.

Then, I cut them into 2×2 squares. I was able to get 6 pieces from each page perfectly.

I used 2 squares for each area. Do you remember doing this in school with tissue paper? I wrapped the center of the pieces around a pen and dipped it in glue.

Then stuck it in the foam ball. I really underestimated how many pieces of paper I would need. I used over 1000 pieces of 2×2’s. So, it ended up taking longer than I expected too. I did mine really tight and close together so you could probably use less paper and be fine.

I stuck the ribbon in the ball with 2 floral pins (I hope it holds). Then I decided it needed a little dressing up so I took it over to the climbing wall and used some spray glitter on it. Adam’s going to love having glitter all over his wall.

Here it is hanging in the kitchen window. I told you it took longer than I expected, it’s now dark outside, so I’m sorry for the reflection problem.

This is another transition area before it goes all the way for Valentine’s Day.

I bought the faux mercury glass ornaments at Hobby Lobby for .25 cents each. I wish they would have had more. They’re so pretty!

I might make some more of these balls , but if I do they will definitely be smaller.

Well if you hadn’t mentioned how much work it was, I might have considered making one myself. 2000! pieces. Wowie, but it was worth it, very cute ball indeed.
