Wired Ribbon Flower Headbands

There are so many beautiful fabric flowers being made out there. They can be used in your hair, on your bags or even jewelry. I can sew a little, but feel more comfortable with a glue gun anytime. So I set off to make pretty flowers without any sewing.

Start with wired ribbon, any size or color you like. Cut a strip 18-24″ long, depending on the size of flower you want in the end. I find that I like about 20″ the best.

Find the wire on the ends of the ribbon and start gathering and pulling as you go.

I keep pulling till the ribbon is a gathered as much as it will go and so it starts curling around itself. To help keep it tight, I tie knots in the wire next to the ribbon. Then I use hot glue to secure it all together, in the back. Just add the clip to the back and the rhinestone to the middle and you’re finished.

They can be clipped in your hair, as is, or you can add them to a headband.

You could also make your own headbands out of pretty elastic, but we already had these.

All these ribbons were different and just as easy to work with.

I like this one the best.

They are so easy and my girls love them. I might try putting some of these on a shirt next. I guess that means I might have to do a little sewing.

Oh. My. Goodness. I LOVE this idea!! I just recently learned how to make the fabric flowers, and I love them. But the wired ribbon is an amazing idea! So easy. I had ONE piece of wired ribbon that came on a Christmas present last year, so now it’s a very festive hair clip. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

How lovely those flowers are. I have some wire gauze ribbon with dots that I’m going to try. The calender is gorgeous. I’d love to win.

You used such pretty colors and fabrics. They look lovely! I’m still not confident I can make them though. 😉

I’m so happy you’re going to do the Spy party! Keep me posted and I can’t wait to see your touch on it!

Just wanted to let you know that I made my first flower. It is sheer blue with a silver square overlay and silver edging. It looks lovely. Thanks again.

That doesn’t look too hard!! Maybe I’ll have to give them a shot. My poor girls have been sadly lacking in the hair bow department because I’m not much of a girly girl myself. They would be so excited if I made some of these!!
    Cute!! Thanks for the tutorial!

I love your wired ribbon idea. I have tons of the ribbon, and never would have thought of using the wire as a basting thread. Great Tip. also — love your calendar giveaway. It’s beautiful

I just made one for a hairclip for my daughter. It probably took me 10 minutes and most of that was waiting for the glue gun to heat up! Fun!
