Inexpensive Flower Pin

Do you remember when I bought this bag from Target on-line and only paid $5 for it?

I thought it would be perfect to take to Hawaii but it was so plain. So the night before we left for Hawaii I came up with an idea. I already had these supplies. All you need is a bag of flower petals from the dollar store and a button.

I used 6 petals for the bottom of the flower. Run a few stitches through the bottom of each petal. Once you have them all threaded, pull the thread until they all start gathering. Position the petals the way you like them then tie the tread in a knot to hold them in place.

For the top of the flower I used 3 petals. I started by gathering them first, then threading through the gather to hold it in place. Thread them all together and position the way you like.

Cut 2 circles from a piece of felt for the bottom of the flower.

Hot glue the bottom layer of petals to the felt circles.

Hot glue the button on the top layer of petals.

Hot glue the top layer and the bottom layer of the petals together.

Hot glue the pin on the back of the felt circles.

And there you have a flower that cost you about .10 cents to make.

It looks so cute on the bag and it was the perfect for Hawaii. Now that I’m home I think I’ll make some more.
