How to Make a Boutonniere

Amanda was asked to Prom by one of her good friends, but it was kind of last minute so there wasn’t any time to order a boutonniere. She even borrowed the dress from a friend. She looked gorgeous in it though.

I took a trip to Michael’s for the rose and filler. I had everything else on hand.

I started by cutting the flowers down to size.

Then arranging them the way I wanted. Once I had them positioned, I started wrapping the floral tape around the stems. I started at the top and worked down.

Then I made the bow. I used brown and silver ribbon since Amanda’s dress is brown and he is wearing a silverish-gray shirt.

I placed the wires from the ribbon next to the stems and continued wrapping the floral tape around the wires to hold them in place.

Then I fluffed the bow and cut off the long pieces of ribbon. Not bad for $2 and 15 minutes work.

And just one more picture because they’re so beautiful and handsome. (Amanda’s dress is too long because she took her heels off.) They had a great time.
