Adventures at Girls Camp

Things I already knew and newly discovered things about girls at camp.

They don’t pack light, even for camping.

They have determination and don’t give up no matter how long it takes them to reach their destination.

They encourage and lift one another.

They have spiritual souls even if it hasn’t come to the surface yet.

They look even more beautiful without make-up, curled or flat ironed hair.

They enjoy their down time.

They’re not easy to get up in the morning.

They’re in better physical shape than me.

It takes about 7 girls to put up one tent.

It takes 4 leaders just to decide where to put a tent.

They never out grow playing dress-ups.

Or making jewelry

Or embellishing their clothing.

Crafting is a staple in a girl’s life.

They need water and sometimes mud to have fun.

They look up to and trust their leaders.

They’re always hungry.

Especially for treats.

They love games.

Cheer for each other.

And would never dream of leaving anyone out.

They can go without a shower for 3 days and still look beautiful.

They have a bad sense of direction.

But are always willing to learn.

Girls like fire as much as boys.

They lend a helping hand, especially if it has to do with food.

They enjoy and are grateful for the beauty that surrounds them.

They need to write down their thoughts.

And take time to reflect.

On their future hopes, dreams, desires, wants and needs.

These are girls enjoying life,

learning and growing along the way.

And sometimes being exhausted in the process.

I love these girls in all their silliness

And seriousness.

But I mostly love spending Girls Camp with my 2 girls.

That brought tears to my eyes. I spent 8 years at camp as a counselor and director and got my degree to do that. I now have three very young girls and I want so much to be able to share exactly this with them. After seeing your pictures it has renewed my determination to do so. I can’t wait!
    Thanks for sharing!
