Advent Tree Skirt

Yesterday I posted about the Advent Calendar Tree. I needed to make a tree skirt to hide the ugly tree stand, so I went through the Christmas storage totes to see what I had to work with. I found a roll of this white pretend snow stuff (it’s similar to felt). I drew a circle using string and a sharpie.

Then traced around a cup for the tree trunk.

This is what it looked like once I cut every thing out. Mine measures 16″ across.

I had some wired ribbon stashed away from last Christmas. I bought it at an after Christmas clearance sale for only $1.25 for the whole roll. I pulled on the wire to gather one side of the ribbon so it looked like this.

Then I used fabric glue to secure it to the outer edge of the material.

I let it dry for about a 1/2 hour.

Then placed it under the tree. That looks so much better, don’t you think? I already had everything to make the skirt so it was basically free.

great job, we will have an extra tree this year and I think I will have to make a skirt like this for the extra. i couldnt tell if you cut a slit in the side? the skirt i bought on clearance a few years ago has one with velcro to keep it closed, makes it super easy to put the skirt on over the stand.

    thanks for the great idea!
